GETTING AROUND YOGYAKARTA

Plane

If you go to this symposium from abroad, you may arrive in Adisutjipto Airport (JOG) or Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA). We suggest you to search flight that arrives at Adisutjipo Airport (JOG). It is the nearest airport to go to the venue.

Yogyakarta also has a new airport: Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA). It is located in Kulon Progo. around 42 km from the center of Jogja. As a result, transportation costs to and from the airport to the venue are quite expensive, if you have flight transit from Jakarta, please do book your domestic ticket to Adisutjipto Airport for easier travel.

Train

If you are international or domestic participants arriving by train. We suggest you to arrive at Yogyakarta Train Station (Stasiun Tugu). This Train Station centrally located as the city’s main train station also near Malioboro street. The central of Yogyakarta traditional market.

Bus

If you do take bus to the venue from your city, we suggest you to arrive at Jombor Terminal.

For getting around the city, you could also take Trans Jogja, consists of modern air-conditioned buses running from 5.30am to 9pm on 11 routes around the city and as far away as Prambanan. Tickets cost Rp 3500 per journey. Trans Jogja buses only stop at the designated bus shelters. Bus 1A is a very useful service, running from Jl Malioboro past the airport to Prambanan. Trans Jogja route maps can be accessed at the tourist office.

Taxi

If you want to go around with regular cab, metered taxis are also cheap, costing Rp30,000 for short trips and 60,000Rp for longer journeys.

Car

Travel agencies on Jl Sosrowijayan and Jl Prawirotaman rent out cars with a driver for trips in the Yogya region for Rp 500,000 to Rp 600,000 per day including petrol. Few drivers speak English, but it can still be an excellent way to explore the area.

Motorbikes rent cost around Rp 50,000 to Rp 90,000 per day and a deposit is generally required.

Online Transportation

Online ride-hailing apps Go-Jek (www.go-jek.com) and Grab (www.grab.com) are the cheapest, quickest and safest way to get around town.

Bike

Bikes can be hired from many hotels. They cost from Rp 25,000 to Rp 30,000 for 24 hours (with deposit). Bikes should always be locked, even in rural suburbs.

Becak

Yogyakarta has an oversupply of becak (bicycle-rickshaws) and their owners tend to be a little aggressive for business. Nonetheless, these are a fun way to get around. A short trip costs about Rp 20,000 to Rp 30,000.
